Grand Chase III. - Statistics
Table of Contents
Grand Chase - This article is part of a series.
In this episode, we’ll look at a little bit of gameplay statistics. We originally planned to collect a lot more information, but unfortunately due to time constraints we were not able to fine tune everything. But even we managed to pull some interesting stats out of the final state.
Brief table of interesting data #
For starters, let’s just look at a few simple points:
Activity | Number |
---|---|
Number of QR codes scanned | 1222 |
Total game groups created | 146 |
How many groups went through the portal | 12 |
Total number of battles | 65 |
Highest attack used in a fight | 4000 |
Average Attack Used in Combat | 362 |
Total attacks used in combat | 23 197 |
Average Group Defense | 430 |
Total defense | 28 005 |
Average life of territory at the end of the game | 436 |
Average territory life at mid-game | 572 |
Territory #
As for territory, players were pretty much in one part of the map (which was expected given the map layout). And a few territories on the edge of the map were visited by just a few groups.
- The most visited point was Kostel Panny Marie pod řetězem.
- The most heavily fortified points were Kostel sv. KÅ™titele na prádle and Kostel sv. JiljÃ.
And the overall activity shown across the entire game map:
Activity graph #
Since all interactions (with a territory, another group, a quest, …) require scanning a QR code, we can also build interesting statistics about the overall activity of all players throughout the game:
And the same chart, just shown a little differently:
Final result #
Unfortunately, the final winner was choosen outside the application. Along with the main game in the app, there was an “skill tree” that generated victory points for each team. This was yet another feature which we did not had enough time to implement into the app. So the actual calculation of the winning faction was calculated outside the app. But even from the data in the app, you can tell at a glance that the red team won for the most part.
Here you can see the final earnings and resource status of the Blue Team:

And here you can see the overall distribution of the occupied territory:
Conclusion #
Perhaps the biggest disappointment for us was that the red team won by such a large margin. We think several points led to this:
- Red team had more Prague players.
- The Blue team had problems with Wi-Fi outages at HQ at times.
- At the start of the game, the red team managed to successfully unlock 17 of the first 20 points. Blue unlocked only 9.
- Blue team did not unlock 17 territories in total.
- The red team had more players who are used to a similar style of play. And they had already studied the rules in advance.
So, for us, the most important conclusion is that in any future edition it will be needed:
- Make the rules easier (or at least the form of their presentation)
- Add better help content in the app. At least to a level where the player is able to play with minimal knowledge of the rules.
